History
For centuries farming communities have survived, working and defending their lands all over Scotland by including the traditional oatcake in their daily diet and I'm sure that before battle a few were always kept in the sporran for that extra strength alongside the dram of whisky. Why else would the sporran be invented?
It was a known fact that when the young Scotsman returned from a battle or even a hard days hunting, his faithful companion was always by his side. A man's best friend is his dog - really all he wanted was the crumbs when he emptied out his sporran at the end of the day!
